I want to make a latte at home but I don’t have an espresso machine, a french press or a machine to froth the milk.

I also only have instant coffee (I’m a student, don’t judge :P ). I don’t care if the latte isn’t the fanciest thing, and I know it won’t be like anything from starbucks but I would like it to be pleasant and drinkable.

Does anyone know how I can make this latte with only basic kitchen equipment?

Thanks :)

Latte is the easiest thing to make at home because its just milk with a splash of coffee.

Make the coffee extra strong. You only need about a 1/4 cup brewed coffee, more if you want it strong.

Warm up 1 1/2 cups milk (any kind) and then put a lid on it and shake the heck out of it to make it frothy. A mini whisk would work too just rub it really fast between your palms.

Add a little sugar to the coffee and stir it well then add the coffee to the milk.

That’s it you just saved yourself 5 bucks and you know exactly what’s in it. You can add flavorings too like a little vanilla extract or add some gingerbread spice or pumpkin pie spice to dress it up for the holidays!

If you have one of those handheld electric whisk things or just electric beaters. They work on the milk better than shaking. I heat the milk first for 45 seconds, and lower fat milk (1%) froths better than a higher fat content.

I make coffee with froth all the time. I just make my coffee stronger than I want it, then add milk to my liking. To make the froth, I use a frother in the milk in the coffee mug, then pour the coffee into it.

You can read more about how I do it, and the frother I use, in my answer here:

P.S. You could make the coffee by any method you can…just make it strong if you’ll be adding milk to it (latte, cappuccino, etc).
